The Baltimore Sinfonietta was founded in 2004 as a chamber orchestra devoted to the performance of lesser known classical repertoire. Under the baton of Randall Stewart, the Sinfonietta performed three concerts in its debut season.
We also attempt to break down the wall between audience and performer by providing opportunities for interaction. In a bold new initiative, we will be offering our concerts free of charge, relying solely on the generous donations of local business, individuals and audience members, making our concerts accessible to everyone. The Baltimore Sinfonietta has a strong commitment to the local community. We believe that participation in the arts is important not only for the cultural edification of the public, but also to the economic development of our urban centers. By performing at St. Mark's Church in Baltimore City's Charles Village, we encourage and support the growth and development of the surrounding area. We also hire local talent both in the orchestra and as featured soloists, highlighting the rich pool of talent that exists in the Baltimore area. |
